The Hong Kong International Youth Hostel’s are exceptionally good value and have clean rooms with washing and cooking facilities but they are very popular and you need to book well in advance - you will also need to be a member of the International Youth Hostel Federation.
Hostels offering dormitory accommodation are the cheapest option, followed by guesthouses which tend to have small rooms with tatty interiors. The streets around Nathan road are renowned for their budget hotels, but the facilities and accommodation aren’t great so it may be better to lodge further out and travel into the city. Always check the room before you hand over any money and make sure the air-conditioning works, you’ll be glad of it when the humidity kicks in.
